The General
The GeneralMake your bed
A SwitchCo product

Work rarely fails loudly. It goes quiet.

The General watches every project on your board, notices the ones nobody has touched, and asks the owner where it stands. It updates itself from the email and WhatsApp your team already sends, and it chases on weekdays, in each person's own time zone.

Runs on your own instance and your own domain. Preview mode messages nobody but you.

A real update The General asked Escalated to you Weekend. Nothing goes out.
How it works

Three jobs, in order.

Nothing here asks your team to adopt a new habit. The board is for the people who want one.

01

It reads the work you already do

Forward an email, copy it in, or send a WhatsApp message in plain words. The General files the update against the right project and tells you exactly what it changed.

  • Email, CC, WhatsApp, or the board itself
  • Replies name what moved, so a wrong guess is obvious
  • Every edit is in the activity feed with an undo beside it
02

It decides what today is for

Each person commits to three things a day. Their own order wins. The General fills the empty slots from what is most overdue, and the rest of the list ranks below.

  • One screen: today's three, then the ranked tail
  • Anything caught but not yet sorted sits in its own inbox
  • Ticking a commitment asks what moved, so the board stays true
03

It chases what goes quiet

Every project carries a check-in interval. Miss it and the owner hears about it. Miss it again and it escalates to you, with the number of days and the last thing anyone said.

  • A real update resets the clock
  • Rearranging a checklist does not
  • You get a morning brief and an end-of-day report
Quiet hours

It knows when to shut up.

A chaser that messages people at 21:00 on a Saturday gets muted in week two, and then it is just another dashboard nobody opens. So silence is built in at three separate points, not bolted on as a setting.

01 Weekdays only, in their time zone

Chases, check-ins and the end-of-day report run Monday to Friday, measured on each person's own clock. A teammate in Vancouver is not woken by a schedule set in Toronto.

02 Friday 16:00 to Sunday 16:00, nothing autonomous

The whole weekend is silent, the morning brief included. If someone writes in during those hours they still get an answer. A person who started the conversation is always owed a reply.

03 An outage does not become a Monday pile-up

A reminder that could not be delivered expires instead of arriving 44 hours late. "Three of your three still open" describes Friday afternoon, and by Sunday it is simply false. Tomorrow's reminder is the right remedy.

One week of outbound

Solid is open for business. Hatched is held. Replies to inbound messages and anything you send by hand cross the hatching freely.

What you get

A board your team can ignore and still be caught up.

Today

Three commitments, then everything else

One column, the action as the line and the project as a chip. Drag to reorder, on a phone too. The top of a person's list is what the sub-line under their commitment reads from, so dragging a task up is how you say "this one is next".

Watchdog

A cadence per project, and a ladder

Set how often each project must show movement. First miss asks the owner. Second miss escalates. Snooze a project when waiting on someone else, and it stops counting against them.

Intake

Email and WhatsApp are first-class

Staff who never open the board still keep it current, because forwarding a supplier email is enough. Ask a question back the same way and you get the state of a project in a sentence.

Access

Workspaces, private by default

One team, several businesses. Each workspace grants its own people, and a workspace can be private by default. What the assistant is allowed to change is checked against what the sender can see, every time.

Record

Every change is reversible

The activity feed carries who changed what, through which channel, with an undo beside it. Nothing the assistant does is invisible and nothing is final.

Preview

Run it on your real projects first

In preview mode you receive every chase it would have sent and nobody else is messaged. You watch it work against your own board for a week, then switch it live.

Questions

The ones that actually get asked.

Does my team have to learn another tool?

No. They can stay in email and WhatsApp, and the board stays current anyway. The screen is for the people who want one, usually whoever is accountable for more than they can hold in their head.

What is the assistant allowed to change?

Only what the sender could change by hand. Every proposed edit is checked against that person's own access before it is applied, then written to the activity feed with an undo. It cannot create people, grant access or change the watchdog's rules.

Will it message people at night or on holidays?

Not at night and not at the weekend. Chases run on weekdays inside working hours in each person's own time zone, and the window from Friday 16:00 to Sunday 16:00 is silent. Public holidays are not automatic yet. You can switch the whole watchdog to preview, which messages only you.

What happens if it breaks for a day?

Reminders that went undelivered expire rather than arriving late in a burst. A message about a particular day is wrong when it lands two days later, so The General drops it and sends the next day's instead. Replies to people who wrote in are never dropped.

Where does our data live?

In your own instance, on your own domain, with the project board in your own database. Nothing is pooled with another customer's board.

Onboarding is a conversation, not a signup form. We set the first workspace up with you, point the intake at a real mailbox, and run a week in preview before anyone else on your team hears from it.
